The client wanted to add a new attached garage + Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) to their existing residence. The site is located in a coastal community next to the 5 freeway so sound and visual privacy were essential considerations yet the project wanted to maintain an openness to the temperate climate. The ADU was designed to face away from the street with large doors and a patio opening to the rear of the home, connecting to the pleasant coastal breeze and tranquil garden. The design sought to successfully integrate the new and existing structures, maximizing utility and enhancing the property’s overall aesthetic appeal
